Wool Technologies Limited

We believe wool has a vital role to play in meeting the bedding sectors emerging environmental demands as well as giving consumers a better night’s sleep. A ground breaking research study by the Woolmark Company and the University of Sydney shows that wool bedding products have many benefits. Wool breathes more naturally than synthetic counterparts, increases REM and ensures that the body gets to a comfortable sleeping temperature quicker and maintains it longer. Wool also has superior flame resistance, a benefit many consumers look for when purchasing bedding.

Wool Technologies Limited processes Hi-bulk scoured wool, Hi-bulk cleansed wool and Halo washable wool. You can read more about these in the section “wool for the bedding industry”.

The introduction of the ecologic logo represents our on-going efforts to support companies that work in a sustainable manner. You can read more about the sustainable nature of wool on this site and how you can use the Fern logo.

We promote the commercial and technical developments of wool manufacturing, especially here in New Zealand, to ensure that its physical benefits as a fibre are matched by its economic and technical performance.

Our wool products for bedding

HI BULK SCOURED WOOL
Naturally high bulk (loft) downs type wool is selected, and scoured clean.

HI BULK CLEANSED WOOL
Scoured naturally high bulk wool that is carded and then randomize opened. This process results in good inter-fibre cleaning and removal of contaminants. The fibre is very even and greatly assists the running on predominantly synthetic fibre cards.

HALO WASHABLE WOOL
Naturally high bulk wool is chlorinated and Hercosett resin treated to give the wool fibre good anti-felting, shrink resist properties. The sanitized wool can be given a greater ‘Halo’ of protection by applying Healthguard or Ultrafresh antimicrobials.
